Research of graphene and related materials in Otaniemi campus area involves about 20 senior researchers and altogether some 60 students working on different aspects of graphene science and technology, foremost within the Aalto University School of Science, the School of Electrical Engineering, and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The research directions include:

  1. Nanoelectronics, photonics and optoelectronics, plasmonics, CVD growth, graphene-based nanocomposites, materials characterization (Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering)
  2. High frequency electronic properties, spintronics, sensors, graphene NEMS, THz properties (Low Temperature Laboratory/ Department of Applied Physics)
  3. Scanning probe techniques on atomically controlled samples, plasmonics, materials modelling, atomistic simulations (Department of Applied Physics)
